Diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes when I was 4 years old, my awareness of personal health began at an early age, but my passion for wellness did not start until much later. For many years, my health consisted of only one factor: my diabetes, which was largely controlled with calculations and formulas. This mathematical focus led me down a treacherous path in my early twenties. I thought I was conquering my health through obsessive exercise, disordered eating habits, and meticulous diabetes management. As I continued to fight the same battles with myself and struggle through the same dark thoughts, I realized just how unhealthy my approach really was.

After reaching a low point, I decided it was time to recreate my definition of health. As I began to explore holistic wellness for the first time, I started to understand how my mental, emotional, and spiritual components, not so easily measured or counted, are just as significant to my overall health as the numbers I used daily to account for my physical condition. As I have shifted my mindset, I have started to find a more balanced approach to managing diabetes without letting it consume my identity.

I share my experiences on the blog with the T1D community and anyone else who seeks a holistic approach to feeling their best. I work with clients who are looking for more support as they navigate the bloodsugar, sweat & tears of life.
